GALINHOS TOUR

Galinhos is a peaceful refuge far from the busiest beaches along the state’s coastline, located 170 km from Natal. Isolated by dunes and surrounded by saltwater, it developed on a peninsula—a stretch of land extending into the sea. This small fishing village charms visitors with its simplicity.

What is visited?

There are no cars on the streets of Galinhos, except for buggies. Horse-drawn carts are used as taxis and access is only possible by boat, departing from the pier of the neighboring district of Galos.

The simplicity of the place highlights the beauty of the dunes, mangroves and deserted beaches which, due to the high salt concentration, make it easier for swimmers to float. Salt flats, oil fields and giant wind turbines from wind farms compose parts of the landscape. This tour offers a truly offline day of pure relaxation, where everything happens very slowly in this unusual and remote corner of the Potiguar coast.

What you can do:

• Boat circuit to see the salt flats and mangroves up close.

• Buggy ride through the dunes of Galinhos and be amazed by the viewpoint at Morro do André, the highest dune on the peninsula, and explore the Dunas do Capim.

• Visit Praia do Farol aboard a “taxi-jegue”, as the local carts are called, the lighthouse that gives the beach its name has been operating since 1931 guiding navigators in the region.

• Try dishes based on fish and seafood typical of the region.

• Use your phone only to record videos and photos of the region’s beauty and enjoy a full offline day in Galinhos.
